SKIN TYPE

COMBINATION SKIN TYPE

Skin Features

• Enlarged pores
• Blackheads
• Shiny skin

This is a very common skin type. People with this skin type can be dry or normal in some areas and oily in others, such as the T-zone (nose, forehead, and chin). This is why you may need slightly different care in different areas.

Tips on Combination Skin Care

Dry zones, which are usually located on the cheeks and around the eyes, should be treated with rich creams and moisturizers, while oily areas, usually on the forehead and nose, will benefit from frequent and thorough cleaning.

DRY SKIN TYPE

Skin Features

• Little to no pores
• Dull, rough complexion
• Red patches
• Less elasticity
• Tight and flaky

Weather and harsh soaps are examples of factors that can cause the skin to become dry leading to flakiness, cracks, peels, itchiness, irritation and inflammation. If your skin is very dry, you can find that your skin is rough and scaly, especially on the backs of your hands, arms, and legs.

Tips on Dry Skin Care

Dry skin is usually sensitive and, since winter tends to worsen the condition, it requires thorough care.
The best approach to managing dry skin is to avoid using commercial creams and lotions that contain mineral oils and other petroleum products. Creams and other skin-care products that are based on natural hypoallergenic ingredients are the best.

NORMAL SKIN TYPE

Skin Features

• No or few imperfections
• No severe sensitivity
• Barely any visible pores• Radiant complexion

Normal skin is not too dry and not too oily so it is a fairly well balanced skin type. The natural oils that are created under the skin come out of your pores at moderate rate but at times it can be oilier or drier.

Tips on Normal Skin Care

Normal skin is the least problematic type. It looks clean and smooth and has a good circulation and healthy complexion. Even with a minimum care, it will look good well into your advanced age.

OILY SKIN TYPE

Skin Features

• Enlarged pores
• Dull or shiny, thick complexion
• Blackheads, pimples, or other blemishes

Oily skin is problematic - it usually looks greasy, thick, coarse, and shiny, has enlarged pores, and tends to break out. A good thing, though, is that oily skin is not prone much to aging and wrinkling.

Tips on Oily Skin Care

Cleanse skin no more than twice a day or after you perspire heavily. Use a gentle cleanser that is made specifically for oily skin. Never squeeze blackheads or pimples. This will only aggravate the problem and may lead to infections.
Use products that are noncomedogenic - oil free.

SENSITIVE SKIN TYPE

Skin Features

• Usually very dry
• Tends to feel tight
• Becomes inflamed and irritated easily

Typically, sensitive skin develops reddish and scaly areas that can be itchy and tingly, making it prone to breaking into spots. It is the most fragile type of skin, which needs a very special type of care.

Tips on Sensitive Skin Care

Use soothing products that avoid heating the skin to help stabilise the skin’s moisture levels and sensitivity. Look for products that are hypoallergenic and natural based to provide mild nourishing effect for your skin. Be gentle and often patch test to see how it affects your skin.

KOREAN SKIN CARE ROUTINE

Korean people are known for their rigorous 10-step skin care regime and it’s no wonder that they have such glowing, youthful skin. Sure, it does sound very time-consuming but each step targets different skin concerns, and not everything is necessarily needed to be followed every single day.
Skincare is super unique, so whatever number of steps you take, it should work best for you.
Trust us! You will love how your skin transforms.

TIP: Keep in mind that products are ordered from the most watery consistency to the least for maximum absorption.
So, here’s how to properly start your skincare:

    1) MAKEUP REMOVER / OIL CLEANSER

A clean canvas is key when starting to treat your skin. This means getting rid of makeup, dirt and any impurities that you may have collected during the day. Using makeup removers and oil cleansers is very effective at breaking down your makeup and removing these impurities. Just make sure to massage on a dry face before you splash some lukewarm water, then massage again and finally rinse.

    2) WATER-BASED CLEANSER

This is the famous double cleansing step. By doing so, it removes residue from the oil cleanse and any other remaining impurites.

    3) EXFOLIATION

Exfoliating is crucial for achieving a more smoother and polished complexion. It removes the barrier of dead skin cells that clogs your pores and uncovers the fresh new skin cells. Up to twice a week, gently massage or pat the exfoliator (Chemical or Physical exfoliants available) onto your skin.

    4) TONERS (SKIN, REFRESHERS, SOFTNER)

After cleasing, toner rebalances the PH level of your skin. It also preps your skin so that the following skin care steps are absorbed more easily whilst providing additional hydration. You can either pour directly onto the palm of your hand or dispense on a cotton pad and swipe gently all around your face.

    5) ESSENCE

Usually considered as a hybrid of a toner and serum because of its lightweight and less concentrated property, essences not only hydrate but help improve your skin’s cell turnover rate and health. Dispense directly onto the palm of your hands and apply on your freshly toned skin.

    6) SERUMS / BOOSTERS / AMPOULES

Now to bring some super change to our skin!
Serums, boosters and ampoules are more concentrated and are considered to be treatment products. They work double time to improve your specific skin conerns like pigmentation, acne and wrinkles.

    7) MASKS

Ever heard of the 7-day mask challenge?
Well, this trend shows that there’s no such thing as overdoing masks. It gives an immediate boost of energy in just 15-20 minutes because it physically seals the serum underneath the skin leaving it glowing. (Although you do look like a ghost while doing it!

    8) EYE CREAM

Your eye and neck area has thinner skin, which means it is more delicate. That’s why you need to use products that are designed specifically for these areas for that extra care and nourishment for brighter and firmer skin.

    9) MOISTURISER

Just as there so many different and various types of moisturisers (emulsions, gel, lotions, creams), it’s important to find one that works for your skin type. This step locks all the hard work you’ve done and makes sure your skin holds onto all the goodness. Apply in the morning and at night by patting and occasionally opt for a sleeping mask to wake up with revitalised and re-energised skin.

    10) SUN PROTECTION

Finish your skincare regime with sunscreen in the morning. It’s vital because it prevents premature aging and discoluration as it shields your skin from harmful UVA and UVB rays. You can also use foundations / BB /CC creams containing SPF on top of the sunscreen but remember that makeup alone is not enough to protect your skin from the harsh sun.
